Literature Text

Tonight it's like walking on glass,
The ground below your feet so fragile,
And you creep around as if each step might be your last,
Alert to the slightest sound,
You speak with over politeness,
You offer more words than you should,
While looking with the innocence of a child,
Hoping for just one more glance.

You long to find what you once had,
You want to hear the sweetness of her laugh.
Remembering that smile that once blinded you,
Lighting up her face as it brighten her eyes,
You wish for those moments you touched her,
Made her feel like the one and only,
When she would do anything for you,
Surrender her mind, her soul and body.

But those days now lie in the past,
They are nothing more now than a memory,
Reminders of what might have been,
Echoing those words, if only if only,
So you turn away with a sadness in you eye,
This will be the last time you ever...
And you wipe away a lonesome tear,
Closing the door to walk away.
Those final moments.
